Kitsune Stress Bag

Well, I mentioned this on Episode 20, taking your spirituality to work, and you may have heard it on the 21st episode.  I made this and played with it on the air, much to my chagrin the audio picked up on it.

Anyhow, I thought you may like to see the finished product.

As you can see, it’s cylindrical, just my preference, and has the fox appliques on both ends.  It’s filled with brown rice and black tea.  I did some reasearch and found those to be offerings that Inari likes, and I couldn’t put any sake in there.  I used brown rice because it was available and it’s closer to what is actually grown instead of the white bleached rice.  Besides the Jasmine Rice we had is a bit expensive.  I expect to have to change out the rice at some point, as the oils in it make it decay and rot.  The tea adds a scent to it that I love.

Anyhow, this is the idea I had in my head, got the materials for it and just threw it together in about two hours.  Had to go back and restitch the appliques down since I had only ironed them on, and didn’t consider that the cloth wouldn’t hold the applique correctly.  Took some time to do since it was already assembled.

I plan to find the characters for Inari’s name, and maybe draw them on with a Sharpie.  Then go back and stitch them on with black thread.
